Janeane GriseZ

MA, ATR-BC, LPCC-S, LICDC-CS, GAMB

President

Janeane Grisez (pronouns she/her) is a Registered and Board-Certified Art Therapist, a Licensed Independent Clinical Counselor with a Supervision Designation, a Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor with Clinical Supervision and Gambling Addictions endorsements, and a trained Sex Therapist through the Ohio Center of Relationship and Sexual Health (OCRSH) and American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT).  She received her Bachelor’s in Forensic Psychology (2010) from Lake Erie College, her Master’s in Art Therapy and Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Ursuline College (2015), and her post-master’s education in Sex Therapy from OCRSH (2022).  

Janeane’s current focus is providing art therapy, counseling and supervision at her private practice, StellasDream Art Therapy & Counseling, along with being an art therapy educator as an Adjunct Professor in the Undergraduate Pre-Art Therapy Program at Tri-C, the Graduate Counseling and Art Therapy Program at Ursuline College, Offsite Supervisor for Art Therapy and Counseling Internships, and an educator for Ohio Center for Relationship and Sexual Health, bringing authentic and affirming conversations that are sex-positive, informative and shame-free. Janeane includes art therapy in much of her client work and encourages creating art for processing and self-care.

Janeane has enjoyed working with diverse populations and settings that including adolescents and adults, community mental health, forensic psychology, chemical dependency treatment, inpatient mental health, school-based, private practice, LGBTQIA+ and other marginalized populations. She had the privilege of developing and implementing a program for outpatient Substance Use treatment in a community-based re-entry program. Janeane has worked with the American Psychiatric Association as a collaborating investigator in the development of the diagnostic criteria for the DSM-5. She is an experienced presenter of lectures and workshops specifically about art therapy that educate other professionals and the general public. Janeane has been honored to serve on Ohio’s Buckeye Art Therapy Association Board of Directors as its Clinical Chair (2016-2022) and is dedicated to serve another term with such a vibrant Board of Directors allied with the art therapy community as its President.

Ashley Skelly

First Vice President

Ashley graduated from Capital University in 2011 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Art Therapy and Psychology. Ashley graduated from Ursuline College in May 2014 with a Master's Degree in Art Therapy and Counseling. Ashley has worked as a counselor and supervisor at Nationwide Children’s Hospital for the past 7.5 years. She currently supervises the CALL program, which provides clinical mental health consultation for child welfare systems and staff. Ashley specializes in early childhood mental health treatment, specifically practicing Child-Parent Psychotherapy. She recently began training in Perinatal Child-Parent Psychotherapy.

Tammy Shella

Ph.D., ATR-BC

Second Vice President/Symposium Chair

Dr. Shella created and manages the art therapy program at Cleveland Clinic Arts & Medicine. She is a board certified art therapist and holds a PhD in Psychology with a specialization in Health Psychology. Tammy began her career at Cleveland Clinic in 1998, working with psychiatric patients on both a general adult unit and the specialized Cleveland Clinic Center for Mood Disorders Treatment and Research. She is co-founder of the Behavioral Health Fund, developed to provide assistance to psychiatric patients. Tammy received the Patient Support Service Collaboration award in 2009 for her work at Lutheran Hospital, and was nominated in 2012 for the Cleveland Clinic Health Science Educator award. In her current position she has focused on patients with neurological diagnoses including epilepsy and multiple sclerosis, as well as the used of the arts for employee health, resilience, and wellness. She has published in several peer-reviewed journals, and presented locally, nationally, and internationally, including the Kochi-Muziris Biennale in Cochin, India, and at the University of Oxford in England.

Diane Fleisch-Hughes

Diane Fleisch Hughes (pronouns: she/her) grew up in New Jersey where a great appreciation for the arts was nurtured from a young age. She graduated with a BFA in Illustration from FIT in NYC. Diane received her MA in Art Therapy and Counseling from Ursuline College. She is the Art Therapist for Julie Billiart School, a K-8 school for children with special learning needs. Within this school, Diane provides art therapy for groups, individuals needing more intensive counseling, a parent support group as well as social skills groups for adolescent girls. She is Adjunct Faculty in the Counseling and Art Therapy program at Ursuline College. Diane is passionate about community art and enjoys organizing and inviting community members to come together to support one another through creating art. She has organized Umbrellas for Peace, The Puzzle Project, Art4Africa, the International Intercultural Mural Exchange as well as helping in the service learning trips with Ursuline College.  Diane is a working artist, her artwork is represented by Stella’s Art Gallery in Mentor, Ohio. Diane looks forward to another term serving on the BATA board.

Katherine Jackson

Dr. Katherine Jackson (pronouns: she/her) has taught in the Counseling and Art Therapy Graduate Program at Ursuline College since 1993 as an adjunct faculty, and is now a full time Associate Professor (since 2012). While at Ursuline, she has taught a variety of classes including family process, cultural and social diversity, creativity and visual thinking, as well as research/capstone seminar. She also created the service learning program for graduate Counseling and Art Therapy students in 2012, and has taken students to El Salvador, Ecuador, Zimbabwe, South Dakota, Hungary, South Africa, Peru, and Nepal.

Along with her work at Ursuline College, Dr. Katherine Jackson has been a practicing art therapist for 35 years, and is currently in private practice at Beachwood Counseling Center (www.beachwoodcounselingcenter.com), where she enjoys providing services for a variety of clients including children/teens, couples/families, and adults. Dr. Katherine Jackson is a registered yoga teacher, providing yoga and mindfulness groups, and she is  certified health coach integrating mind/body techniques and skills for her clients.

Molly (Mary) K. Kometiani

After graduating from Miami University with a BS in Art Education, Molly received a MA in Art Therapy and Counseling from Ursuline College. Molly has diverse professional work experience in settings such as pediatric hospital, hospice and bereavement, homeless shelter for women and children, and safe house for survivors of sex trafficking. She has experience as an instructor of art therapy, and has provided supervision to both internship students and art therapists. She has delivered numerous creative workshops and presentations at regional, national, and international conferences. In addition to authoring several professional journal articles and chapters in books, Molly edited Art Therapy Treatment with Sex Trafficked Survivors: Facilitating Empowerment, Recovery, and Hope. Molly has served on the Buckeye Art Therapy Association Board for over a decade, and she looks forward to the opportunity of continuing to serve the Ohio art therapy community.

JASON LUBOSKI

Jason has a bachelor of arts in psychology from Arizona State University and a master of arts in Counseling and Art Therapy from Ursuline College.  He changed careers in 2018, moving away from business and distribution and into the field of art therapy.  Jason currently works as an art therapist and counselor at StellasDream Art Therapy & Counseling, a private practice where he provides counseling and art therapy services to mostly children and adolescents.  Jason is looking forward to being a part of the BATA board to help move the field of art therapy in Ohio forward.

Molly O'Neill Haaga

Dr. Molly O’Neill Haaga is a board-certified art therapist, licensed mental health counselor, and college instructor. She currently serves as Assistant Professor in Ursuline College’s Art Therapy Program. Molly earned her Master’s in Art Therapy and Counseling from Ursuline College and her Doctorate in Expressive Therapies from Lesley University. Her doctoral research focused on the role of art therapy in assessment, treatment, and management of medical illness and psychosocial comorbidities. Her clinical experience has included work with individuals, families, and groups in community mental health, hospital, school, rehabilitation, and studio settings. Molly’s areas of expertise are centered on using mind-body oriented art therapy approaches to identify, examine, and alter maladaptive thoughts and behaviors in an effort toward achieving wholeness and balance. Her current clinical and research interests include: expressive arts in healthcare and medicine; pedagogical approaches in art therapy education; trauma-informed therapeutic practices; and artistic expression across stages of human growth and development.

CHERYL PETE

Cheryl Pete, ATR-BC is the Clinical Director at Art Therapy Studio in Cleveland. She earned her master's degree in Art Therapy and Counseling from Ursuline College. Cheryl has experience working with a wide range of individuals, including veterans, adults with chemical dependency issues, LGBTQ+, adults and children with trauma and adults with developmental disabilities.

Cheryl is a strengths-based art therapist who takes a holistic, client-centered approach to healing. She is passionate about increasing access to art therapy for all people and is involved in Art Therapy Studio initiatives to educate the public about art therapy and the healing power of art.

Samantha Bobinski

Samantha Bobinski

Samantha earned her bachelors in Art Education from the University if Akron in 2008. After working in various school districts Samantha made the decision to pursue Art therapy at Ursuline college. From there she graduated with her Masters degree in Counseling and Art Therapy in 2015. Since graduating Samantha has become a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and a Registered Art Therapist. Samantha currently works on inpatient psych as well as detox units at Lutheran Hospital in Cleveland. Over the past five years she has also presented a workshop at BATA in 2017 and has been a guest presenter for art therapy classes at Ursuline. She looks forward to the opportunity of being on the BATA Board.

Heather Denning

Heather Denning

Publications Chair

Heather (pronouns: she/her) is a registered and board-certified art therapist with a supervisor credential with the ATCB and a licensed social worker in the state of Ohio. She is a professional member of the American Art Therapy Association, Buckeye Art Therapy Association, and Pennsylvania Art Therapy Association. She has presented at art therapy conferences locally and nationally. Abroad, she has presented at the International Art Therapy Practice/Research Conference in London, England hosted by the British Art Therapy Association and American Art Therapy Association. Currently, she serves as the Publication Chair for the Buckeye Art Therapy Association and as a co-chair of the American Art Therapy Association’s Undergraduate Education Sub-Committee.  She has recently written a book chapter "Beginning Concepts of Group Work" in Foundations of Art Therapy: Theory and Applications (2022).

Heather began her art therapy career in the mental health field in 1994 facilitating and directing group therapy programs for adults with severe mental illnesses and substance use disorders at Ravenwood Heath. She has directed both the Adult Partial Hospitalization and Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement Programs at Ravenwood Health. At Ursuline College, Heather has taught art therapy courses, overseen students in clinical and internship placements, been a thesis reader, and traveled on service-learning trips. She is currently the undergraduate art therapy program director at Mercyhurst University in Erie, PA. She is an art therapy graduate of Bowling Green State University and Vermont College of Norwich University.

Ashley Rogols (pronouns: she/her) is a Board Certified Art Therapist, Certified Art Therapy Supervisor, and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with Supervision Designation. She received her Bachelor's in Art Therapy, Psychology, and Studio Art from Capital University in 2010, and Master's in Art Therapy and Counseling from Ursuline College in 2013. Ashley currently develops and facilitates clinical educational opportunities statewide as Supervisor of Training and Development at Ohio Guidestone. She is also an Adjunct Professor in the Counseling and Art Therapy Graduate Program at Ursuline College, and has served two terms as 1st Vice President and two terms as President of the Buckeye Art Therapy Association. Ashley’s particular areas of interest are in trauma work, therapeutic photography, international outreach, mindfulness, clinical education, and instructional design. She looks forward to the opportunity to continue serving Ohio’s art therapy community.
