This two hour workshop will guide participants into an embodied awareness of how grief is experienced in the body and heighten their sensitivity to the way they process grief. They will also understand how tracking the polarity of "being" and "doing" provides a technique for managing self-support.  This workshop, facilitated byShareefah Sabur and Elizabeth Welch, takes place Sunday, January 11, 2015.

Ethical Experience and Our Attitudes Toward the Other

We will turn to phenomenology to address the questions: What is the ethical experience? When does the ethical experience occur?  What can be said of the person who has this experience?  One of Gestalt therapy's central concepts is contact with 'the other'.  In this workshop we will explore together how the ethical experience shapes the Gestalt practitioner's attitudes toward the other.

Participate in this intriguing workshop on SaturdayJanuary 17, 2015, and facilitated by Dan Jones and Jen McWeeny.

Experiential Marathon Group for Personal and Professional Development

This 15-hour group experience engages participants in holistic, present-centered and process-oriented interactions by attending to both 'What is being said' and 'What's not being said.'  By attending to the 'Here and Now,' and 'What and How,' awareness and meaningful contact is attended to in a manner that allows participants to experience authenticity and integrity in their personal and professional living.  This is an opportunity to experience and learn the Gestalt approach to working therapeutically in groups.

Past marathon group participants report Gestalt's power to evoke life-changing awareness, insights and creative adjustments, thus experiencing a new sense of self, expanded potential for novel behavior and creative ways of relating to others. While we will be together as a group most of the day, there will be opportunities for alone time and sub-grouping.

Join Drs. Ansel Woldt and Logan Lamprecht for this workshop held Saturday, February 28, 2015

Ongoing Personal Growth Group

Leaders: Amy Luzar, M, LISW-S and Les Wyman, Ph.D., LISW-S

Personal Growth groups are: Opportunities to develop supportive relationships and learn about one's personal and interpersonal processes. (That means how you interact with others and how they react to you.)

Others who have inquired about this group have been seeking:

  • Support for making changes in their lives
  • A "safe place" where they can belong being authentically "who they are"
  • Guidance for troublesome life patterns which strain personal relationships
  • A "Place where everybody knows their name (Cheers)" and cares about what it takes to live their lives.

Meeting Schedule:

The Tuesday Evening Personal Growth Group meets throughout the year on alternating Tuesday evenings from 7:00pm-9:30pm.

Fee:

Fee is $18.00 per hour for 2 +1/2 hour sessions = $45.00, with usually two sessions a month.

As one begins membership, payment is expected for five sessions in advance with monthly payments thereafter.

Members are charged for sessions while they are members, whether or not they attend.

We recommend that applicants participate in a Gestalt Experience Workshop: An Introduction to Gestalt at GIC to have an experience with our method of work before they make this commitment to membership.
