Presences: Images and objects from a journey of the awakening heart

What are the Presences, the Images that appear to us in our dreams, in moments of reverie, in works of art, in unexpected encounters at the margins or interstices of our daily lives? What messages do they bring? How do we best honor them? In a small constellation of two- and three-dimensional works created during my own ongoing journey of awakening–much of it in the company of Jungians–I invite viewers to join me in experientially engaging these questions.
There will be an opening reception on Saturday, September 10, 2011, from noon until 1:30 pm at the Jung Association Gallery, and a workshop for members on Saturday, October 15, 2011, or Saturday, October 29, 2011, from 10am to noon, also at the Jung Association Gallery. Jeanne Figueira Grossetti is a Cleveland-based visual artist, educator and curator who understands the nature of art as a depth process, and who seeks to apply that understanding for the benefit of individuals, communities, and our world. She studied art and anthropology (B.A) and art history (M.A.) at Cleveland State University. She began studying art therapy at Ursuline College in 2010, and several key works in this exhibition were created during intense engagement at the connection between art and psyche, in response to assigned art tasks. She has been a commuting member of the Jung Association of Central Ohio for several years.
